YOLO
I wrote and photographed a feature for YOLO Magazine reflecting on my return to the first African country I visited at fourteen—and how it has transformed for the better. I still remember the red earth of the Mara staining my shoes, the golden light fading as elephants moved through the grass. Decades later, that beauty endures, but the story has evolved. Women now lead safaris, manage lodges, and shape conservation efforts that honor both land and community. I stayed in lodges guided by visionary women, where every detail reflected local culture and craft. Returning closed one chapter and opened another, as the Mara’s wild beauty continues to transform.
